Don’t Be an Ignorant Christian
“Christians don’t get brownie points for being stupid.”
Earlier today, I watched a video featuring a Christian hypnotist (a conflict in terms according to some believers in Christ — but we will get back to that). This hypnotist made the point that his work has actually drawn him closer to God. And then he added this really interesting quote…
“I don’t believe in God. I know there’s a God, because I’ve danced with the devil.”
Sure enough, a Christian commenter misunderstood him and proceeded to chastise him for not believing in God. And then she expressed incredulity that he would intentionally sell his soul to the devil via hypnosis.
All I could do was shake my head. How could this person get what he said so wrong? How could she (to put it bluntly) be that stupid?
It goes back to one of my favorite quotes from Christian author Frank Turek:
“Christians don’t get brownie points for being stupid.”
Yet, we sure do go after those brownie points. :-(
