You Don’t Have to Hate Those Who Vote Differently From You
Don’t sell your soul or lose your sanity to politics
If you live in the United States of America, then you know American politics have become a blood sport. We no longer simply disagree with one another. We distrust, despise, and loathe one another. We don’t just want to defeat the “other” side. We want to destroy them.
And our hatred reaches a fever pitch every election cycle.
And guess what? At the time of this writing, we’re in the midst of another election cycle in the United States.
This isn’t to suggest that hatred is anything new to American politics. People are people. And there have always been conflicts, problems, and challenges many human beings haven’t handled in a constructive manner.
But most experts will confirm we are living in unusually perilous times and that our polarization is comparatively worse than most other democratic societies in the world.
The solution is simple. Not easy, but simple.
We must stop hating each other and instead choose to see each other as individual human beings worthy of compassion and esteem.
