We Would End Most of Our Suffering If We Simply Loved Like Jesus Said

Violence, Bigotry, Abuse, and Greed would be vices of the past

Most of the world’s suffering would end if every human being on planet Earth genuinely and consistently obeyed Jesus’ command to “love your neighbor as yourself.”

This isn’t to suggest disagreement on my part with Jesus’ other commandments. Not at all. It’s just that I recognize not everyone is prepared to embrace all the tenets of Christianity.

I believe in the freedom of thought, conscience, and religion. Therefore, if you reject Christianity, I respect your legal right to do so. Nevertheless…

You would be hard-pressed to deny the immense power and value behind what Jesus calls the second greatest commandment.

Two thousand years ago, Jesus was asked which of the many laws in the Mosaic Code was the greatest. This was his famous answer:

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.
