You might say it's totally OK to call such people out, and that's not what you are criticizing. You are talking about atheists who "mock" Christianity.

What if feeling good about oneself is not what those atheists are after?

That is exactly what I would say … and have said. Accountability is good. And to your point, I join you in criticizing and lamenting how some Christians dismiss or downplay mental illness.
