Terrorism is Never Justified

No matter the target or the reasons, terrorism is evil and should be condemned by all

I write this as the world’s news agencies report a terrorist attack on a concert hall in Moscow. The attack has claimed the lives of scores of people, with the reported death toll still climbing. The Islamic State (aka ISIS or ISIL) has claimed responsibility.

It shouldn’t be necessary for me to make the following disclaimer, but (given the sad nature of the times in which we live), I will…

My condemnation of this terrorist attack — and I do wholeheartedly condemn it! — should not be construed as an endorsement of Russia’s government or any of its policies, including and especially its violent aggression towards Ukraine.

I do not support Russia’s government. But no matter how you or I feel about the Russian government or its foreign policies, there is no justification for this act of mass murder.

None.

Terrorism is always wrong.

Period.

There are no exceptions.

It doesn’t matter who the perpetrators are or who the victims are. Terrorism is always wrong. It should always be condemned. And those responsible should be held fully accountable.
