When a story in the Bible contains a non-specific setting and seems to function to convey more lessons, I entertain the idea that it is a parable (probably to be distinguished from mythological literature). Thanks for the reply.
I believe that God is real and also that the supernatural is real and miracles are possible.

I just don't agree with concluding that Jonah committed suicide. He was certainly WILLING to commit suicide, but God had other plans for him.
