Sorry for the late reply. What do you mean by "personal truth"? If someone believes the earth is flat, is that his or her "personal truth" and should the rest of us take that seriously?
As to your point about the Bible saying different things to different people, the apostle Peter directly addresses this when he writes...
"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." -II Peter 1:20-21
I grant that people disagree, but you're not suggesting that agreement or consensus are necessary for objective truth, are you?
