Shameful Fools Comment Before Reading

If you haven’t read an article, don’t comment on it

Got opinions? Congratulations! So does everyone else. By themselves, opinions are of little value. Your adding yours to the mix doesn’t necessarily help move society forward.

What does add value are informed opinions, especially those combined with thought and reflection. Put another way, knowledge and wisdom.

Unfortunately, few people bring real knowledge or wisdom to the table. In most cases, when it comes to socio-political online content and discourse, we just see more foolishness and ignorance.

One of the biggest examples of foolishness and ignorance on the Internet is people commenting on articles or posts that they haven’t even read (or, in the case of YouTube, videos they haven’t even watched).

Such people are shameful fools.

Too harsh?

After all, I did just write an article against name-calling. And I stand by that, but… it’s not me saying they are “shameful fools.”

Consider this ancient Hebrew proverb:

“He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.” (Proverbs 18:13, KJV)
