It sure would be nice if people made an honest and serious effort to understand Christianity before turning away from it or denouncing it.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m well aware that the world of Christianity is full of sin, strife, and scandal. I know many people have been tragically and inexcusably scarred by churches, faith-based organizations, and everyday people who profess to believe in and follow Christ.
Those who abuse, mistreat, exploit, and violate others should be called out and held accountable. I want there to be no misunderstanding on that point.
No group should be above criticism or accountability. But when criticism of Christianity strays into the territory of hatred and bigotry, we all lose.
