Personal Thoughts on Today’s Election in America

From my heart to yours

My biggest concern and heartache this election season isn’t about whether Kamala Harris or Donald Trump will win. I realize that’s where most of you are focused, and (if anyone reads this) I’m sure that sentiment will trigger some reactions along the lines of…

  • The stakes are high
  • You don’t get it
  • Don’t you understand Trump’s a felon!?
  • How can we roll back the clock?
  • We can’t give up this opportunity to have the first woman President
  • She’s a communist!

Or they’ll start raising all the issues: election denialism, January 6, climate change, NATO, LGBTQIA+, abortion, free speech, etc., etc., etc.

And on and on.

Trust me. I’ve read commentary pieces — on this site and many others — from both the left and the right as well as people like me who just want the family to stop yelling and fighting!

I understand the issues. I have a pretty good idea of the stakes. And note that I didn’t say I was indifferent to the result. I didn’t say this election doesn’t matter. I said that the outcome of this election isn’t what’s causing my heartache and greatest concern.
