Midjourney Struggles With Images of Historical Scenes and Figures

My Failure to Produce AI Art Images Inspired by History

Abraham Lincoln gives a speech — with much of the audience looking away — while he holds a microphone? (an attempt to produce an image of the Gettysburg Address via MidJourney)

I love AI art and I love MidJourney. I’ve been able to create some amazing images (at least amazing to me), such as…

But when it comes to scenes or people from history, the results are mixed.

For one thing, there are some words that are annoyingly banned. For example, I tried to produce an image of the crucifixion of Jesus. Nope! No can do! The word “crucifixion” is banned by MidJourney. SMH.

I tried to produce an image of an American Sherman Tank during World War II’s Battle of the Bulge, but the word “bulge” was banned. It would be nice if MidJourney’s algorithm was smart enough to understand context.
