Merry Christmas
Take time to reflect on what’s most important this holiday season
Christmas is the time of year billions of people around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. My family is among those who join in this celebration.
Whatever your personal beliefs may be, there’s no question that Jesus changed history. Indeed, until recent (more “politically correct”) times, the world calendar itself recognized this with B.C. and A.D. Of course, even the more politically correct alternatives of B.C.E. and C.E. still hinge on Jesus Christ’s presence in history, even if “woke” mainstream scholars bend over backward to avoid saying the name of Christ.
There’s value for anyone pausing during the Christmas season to reflect on the impact that Jesus has had on history. What you do with that time of reflection is fully up to you, but there is benefit to such reflection.
Too many people careen through life from one thing to the next, never considering the wider context of their lives or the weightier matters of life or history.
Christmas is a time to slow down and reflect.
It’s of course time to reflect on Jesus, but more than that…. It’s a time to reflect on the mark we are making in history — at least to those around us. It’s a time to reflect on our own lives and our own relationships.
I hope this Christmas, you will take time to rest, to reflect on the most important things in life, and to enjoy time with the most important people in your life.
