Many of the World’s Problems Have No Easy Answers

So we better work together before it’s too late

I’m tired.

Tired of the yelling, the shouting, the screaming, the name-calling, the slandering, the hating, all of it.

Too many of our fellow human beings seem to think that the more they listen to people they already agree with and scream at those they don’t, the better our world will be.

I’m tired of it. I’m sick of it.

Our world faces major problems and challenges. As a person of faith, I would say — I do say — we need to humble ourselves before God and seek guidance from above. But…

I know that saying that will garner ridicule from people who scorn and hate people of faith, and the cycle continues. It’s sad.

But let’s pause on that cycle for a moment. Even if we differ on the nature of God or whether God exists, can we agree there is virtue in humility? Can we at least agree there is wisdom in admitting that many things are beyond our ability to fully understand, let alone solve? And that we need help?

We need humility.

We need to admit that many (perhaps most) of our world’s problems can’t be solved without humility, patience, listening, and cooperation. And, yes, I would…
