Here we go again.

Another day, another Medium article trying to retrofit Jesus into a modern political category that He never claimed for Himself.

In the article “Jesus Was a Commie — And Modern Christians Would Hate Him,” the author, Joy, writing for Write a Catalyst, attempts to shoehorn the Son of God into the ideology of Karl Marx.

Jesus Was a Commie — And Modern Christians Would Hate Him

I want to make clear that I bear no ill will toward Joy, nor am I seeking to impose any of my particular religious beliefs on you, the reader. I write this in the spirit of intellectual critique as part of the free exchange of ideas.

Okay, here we go…

Joy’s argument goes something like this: Jesus cared about the poor, told people to give to the needy, healed people for free, and condemned the rich — so clearly, He was a communist.
