It's true we only have "copies of copies," and it's also true that the copies were made by fallible men.

It is, however, wrong for you to accuse all of the copyists of intentional manipulation. The methods that copyists used in the ancient world were quite impressive. And the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls established that the Hebrew Scriptures were remarkably preserved over the centuries.

It's true that it requires a degree of faith to hold to inerrancy, but it's not difficult to establish beyond a reasonable doubt that the Hebrew Bible and the Christian New Testament have been reliably preserved -- more so than any other ancient text.

As to "American Christianity" being a "business," I agree that MUCH about Christianity in the USA has been compromised by selfishness, greed, hypocrisy, politics, etc., etc, etc. You get no argument from me on that. But...

That doesn't mean all Christians are hypocritical or insincere. And it certainly doesn't discredit the Founder of Christianity - the One for whom it's ultimately all about.
