It’s Time to Write About More Than Culture Wars and Outrage
Why I’m shifting gears a little
Medium is full of articles that rant and rave about religion, politics, and culture. Most come from a left-of-center — often very left-of-center — perspective. And those that touch on faith usually take a sharply anti-Christian tone.
My feed is full of them.
And even though I’d rather write about other things, I keep getting pulled in. I see a post, feel that itch to respond, and before long, I’m deep in another article about faith.
I’m not trying to force anything on anyone. I just want to offer a different way to think about truth, faith, Jesus, and the Bible.
Unfortunately, online discourse around faith, politics, and culture keeps getting worse.
Few people enter these discussions with humility, self-awareness, or any real desire to build understanding. It’s mostly noise and emotion. And it’s draining.
And counterproductive.
Our society feels angrier than ever. We’re arguing more, listening less — all while the ship keeps heading for the iceberg.
I’m not trying to sound apocalyptic. But we have serious challenges ahead — environmental, financial, technological, and more — and we’re not preparing for them. We’re too busy fighting.
So, while I won’t stop writing about faith and culture completely, I’m pivoting toward things that might help, encourage, and inspire. I don’t want to add to the noise. I want to offer something of value.
Every Sunday, I’ll still share something rooted in my Christian faith. But during the week, you’ll see more from me about writing, AI, creativity, productivity, and personal development.
And stories. Yes — actual fiction stories.
In my next article, I’ll share more about what’s coming. For now, I just wanted to explain why.
Maybe it’s something for all of us to think about:
Less outrage. More creativity.
Less noise. More meaning.
Less fighting. More building.
At least a guy like me can hope, right? :-)
