"It’s the Christian apologist who typically says the Holy Spirit gives them personal truths that can’t be evaluated objectively."

That depends what is meant by "personal truth." I don't know of any Christian that would say "the Holy Spirit told me that gravity isn't real," but I do know Christians who have said that the Spirit led them to make certain decisions. The latter is not an example of embracing relativism or denying objective truth.
