If you want to kick off a firestorm online, post or comment about the ethics of AI when it comes to any form of art or content creation. Ever since AI broke into the mainstream, it’s been a source of tremendous anxiety and controversy.

It’s unlikely the controversy will go away anytime soon, as we live in a world that can’t keep up with technological change and (at the same time) is increasingly postmodernist, cynical, divisive, and emotional.

Accordingly, it’s really challenging to navigate questions of ethics or moral propriety.

Easy or not, we can’t avoid navigating these questions and controversies because we now live in a world in which AI is the norm. That will only become more solidified in the months and years to come.

For this article, I want to look specifically at AI editing.

Is it unethical or inappropriate for writers or publishers to use artificial intelligence to edit their written content?

That is our question.
