Are you a secular progressive?

Before you answer that, let’s define our terms.

What is a Progressive?

According to Wikipedia, progressivism is “a left-leaning political philosophy and reform movement that seeks to advance the human condition through social reform.”

ChatGPT defines a modern-day progressive as “someone who advocates for social, political, and economic reforms aimed at achieving greater equality, inclusion, and justice, especially for historically marginalized groups.”

There is overlap between progressivism and liberalism, but there are some key differences. Progressives are often more passionate and more engaged. And they believe most U.S. institutions should be “completely rebuilt” rather than simply modified or reformed. Thus, their version of reform is much more aggressive than a typically liberal one. Their idea of reform often looks like a complete dismantling and/or overhaul.
