If You Find Yourself Complaining Often… Consider Your Focus

Some people complain all the time about everything. Okay, maybe they don’t complain all the time, but they sure do complain often.

Don’t be one of them.

I realize not all of you reading this share my Christian faith, but I can’t help but think of this simple admonition from Paul the Apostle in his first-century letter to the church in Philippi…

“Do all things without complaining and disputing” — Paul the Apostle (Philippians 2:14, NKJV)

This exhortation is part of a larger point that Paul is making. Now, it’s possible much of Paul’s larger point may not impress you if you’re not a person of faith. Nevertheless, I think we can all benefit from his wisdom.

In his epistle to the Philippian church, Paul spends a great deal of time talking about joy. He wants his readers to experience joy in their lives. He tells them that joy is found in God and that people sabotage their peace of mind and happiness when they become self-centered.
