Today is the anniversary of the death of one of America’s greatest Founders. It was on this day (April 17) in 1790 that Benjamin Franklin died. So, today is a good day to dream a little.

What would it be like to have dinner with Benjamin Franklin?

I love American history. I particularly enjoy early American history, especially the founding era. Years ago, I regularly blogged on it. Today, my Revolutionary War-era blog is mostly dormant. But I retain the interest. Just not the time.

Over the years, I’ve read multiple biographies of our nation’s Founders. I’ve watched countless documentaries and listened to numerous lectures, interviews, and podcasts on the period.

Though it seems Americans today (especially on the socio-political left and especially on platforms like Medium) look increasingly at the Founders critically or even with disdain, I believe we owe that entire generation a debt of gratitude. At least those of us who appreciate living in the United States of America today. But I digress.
