If God is Real, We Aren’t

So goes the argument of certain atheists — but is this a valid argument?

Recently, I wrote an article explaining that miracles are possible if God is real. This is in response to the skepticism that’s often directed toward miracle claims. In many cases, it’s not just skepticism, but a knee-jerk, vociferous refusal to even consider the possibility of miracles.

And yet…

If a supernatural Being exists, supernatural occurrences are possible.

I stand by that common-sense statement, but one of those commenting on the article pushed back, saying: “If God is real, we are not here.”

This commenter, Garymazeffa, argues his point as follows:

If God is real, we are not here.

A Perfect being does not create. There is no and absolutely no reason to create. It is perfect. And perfect is self-contained. No need to share, no need for worship, no need to love. The key word is need. There is no need.
