George Washington was inaugurated on April 30, 1789, as our nation’s first president under the new Constitution. I wish he were the president of the United States today — April 30, 2025.

And I believe you should want that also.

Now, before anyone in this unfortunate and tiresome Age of Outrage misunderstands me or makes some inane comment about Washington being a slave owner or dressing funny or whatever…

Obviously…

I’m not suggesting that everything George Washington ever said or done was good, nor am I saying that everything about the United States in 1789 was good.

Okay?

That I would even need to type those words is frankly infuriating. It’s only been in this century that such disclaimers and clarifications have become more necessary. SMH.

Clearly, George Washington — if he were to come back from the dead or be brought back from the past via Doc Brown’s Time Machine — would need to brush up on some things and catch up with the times.
