I Asked for a Tasteful AI Art Image of a Husband and Wife in Bed — and Oh My!

What I got from Leonardo AI was a horror show!

Viewer discretion advised.

Let me begin with that as a warning.

I believe AI art represents stunning and remarkable technology. That’s the case with AI in general, and what AI art is becoming is incredible.

And, admittedly, a little troubling — at least with respect to infringing on the work of human authors and the long-term risks to the job market and the artist community. Those issues are for another article.

There is another concern.

AI art still doesn’t have the self-awareness and attention to detail that human artists bring to the canvas. Accordingly, the results can sometimes be a mix of the bizarre and the outlandish. Even to the point of being disturbing.

Case in point: I recently drafted an article about sex. As of this writing, it’s not yet published as I’m still working on it. I wanted a couple of tasteful — emphasis on tasteful — images to accompany the article. Rather than go to the stock photo sites, I tried generating my own images via MidJourney and Leonardo. Well…

MidJourney was a no-go from the start. My attempts were flagged by AI moderation…
