I agree that the long-term credibility (or, to use a church word "testimony") of American evangelicalism has been severely damaged in the Age of Trump.
We may differ a bit on how we would define and measure the "organized Christian faith of the West." My hunch is that you would define that more broadly than me, but...
In the main, I agree with you that the over-politicization, institutionalizing, and commercialization of Christianity leads to a situation that produces toxicity, hypocrisy, and many adherents who ultimately land in the "I never knew you" camp.
