I agree completely with this.

As to my needing to "chill out a bit" :-) on this issue, my passion stems from how I see so much hate and contempt directed against people today for their beliefs and/or behaviors. As a society (and even in the church), we allow ourselves to hate others because we disagree with them or disapprove of them. :-( For all its faults, the "hate the sin, love the sinner" mantra (or, as I prefer to say it, "Love people, hate sin" is an attempt to reestablish the sacred worth and value of all people and end the hatred we see too much of.
