A scared man walked down the dark hallway. His flashlight was flickering. He figured it would die on him soon. He heard noises. The noises made him more frightened. Still, he kept going. He was a security guard and it was his shift. He needed to check out strange noises, so he kept going. When he got to the end of the hallway, his flashlight died. The door opened. By itself. He felt a strange presence. He couldn’t breathe.

I wrote that off the top of my head. I didn’t edit it or do anything to it as I’m sure you can tell. It’s that bad. I know it’s bad. But we’re going to use AI as a copyeditor and proofreader. Let’s see if ChatGPT can take what I wrote and make it great.

For this exercise, I’m using ChatGPT Plus. I pay $20 per month for the subscription. In my opinion, it’s worth it. To start things off, I opened up a new chat in ChatGPT Plus. I gave it this prompt…

You are an expert copyeditor and proofreader. You are able to take boring text and make it great. You are also able to edit text to sound like writing from famous or successful authors. Do you understand?

ChatGPT told me it did, so I typed in the following prompt…
