Me? A Storyteller?

Yes, and by the end of this summer, I’m determined to self-publish my first (professional? serious?) story.

I’m planning this story as a novella (roughly 20,000 words) and to give it away for free to help build my author email list. From there, I hope to write full-length novels (40,000–80,000 words) — hopefully several each year (once I get my feet under me).

Most people who know me or who know of me see me (at least professionally speaking) as a pastor, blogger, or article writer. And I am all three of those things.

Those who know me well also know I’m a husband, father, avid reader, history buff, and lover of crab legs and Coca-Cola.

But not really as a storyteller.

And yet…

When I think back on my life, the activity that perhaps defined me the earliest — before anything else (before history, before politics, before ministry, before any of that) — was STORYTELLING.

Some of my earliest memories include listening to my dad and his dad tell me stories. :-) As I got a little older, I would co-create those stories with them. This was something I especially did with my granddad.
