Have You Played Splendor?
My review of a great strategy game
Our church recently had a game night. And it was a blast!
One of the games to which I was introduced for the first time was Splendor. I played it with some other church members for most of the night.
As soon as I got home, I purchased the PC version on Steam.
Yes, I am hooked!
Splendor is an award-winning game set in the Renaissance era. It is designed by Marc André. Published in 2014, Splendor puts players in the role of ambitious gem merchants in a race for privilege and prestige.
Your job is to accumulate and manage resources in order to collect prestige points. The first player to 15 prestige points is the winner.
On your turn, you can take up to three gem tokens (or chips) from the available pool or two gem tokens of the same color. Once you’ve accumulated the right amount of tokens (or chips), you may exchange them for a resource card.
These resource (or development) cards produce passive income. And similar to real life, passive income is what you ultimately want.
