Forgive me for being a technical-detail armchair corrector, but… :-)

Thomas Jefferson didn’t write the First Amendment. He wrote the Declaration of Independence. We can thank James Madison and Fisher Ames for the wording of our First Amendment. Again, sorry to be “that guy.” :-). Good article.
