"...for hundreds of years in this country, Christians have had a laser focus on demonizing and ridiculing others, treating them as subhuman creatures without feelings."

This is something that PEOPLE do to one another--and have been doing for all of recorded history. It's hardly unique to those who identify with or are associated with Christianity.

"But sure, now we need civility and rationality. Why not?"

We ALWAYS thrive when those virtues are respected.

And those who perceive themselves as having been oppressed or persecuted by others do not have the moral right to jettison these virtues when they come to power.

Two wrongs don't make a right.
