Elon Musk Slams Apple — Says They Are “Selling You Down the River”
Raises concerns over security and privacy
Billionaire mogul Elon Musk is not a fan of Apple’s partnership with OpenAI. He blasted the partnership today, accusing Apple of selling out its customers.
As announced today (June 10) at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple is adding ChatGPT features to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, making it easier for users to use ChatGPT without switching apps.
This includes understanding images and documents as well as integrating Siri. According to Apple, Siri will use ChatGPT when it’s useful, but only after getting user permission to send any questions, photos, or documents. Siri will then show the answers directly.
ChatGPT will also be part of Apple’s Writing Tools to help users create content and generate images to match their writing.
Yet Musk believes that, for all the fanfare and excitement, consumers need to be wary of how Apple and OpenAI will safeguard (or not) users’ privacy and security.
When it comes to the partnership, more will, I’m sure, come to light in the days and weeks ahead. And you can count on OpenAI and Apple issuing statements to assure Apple users that their security and privacy are in good hands.
