Don’t Judge Religion Based on What You Want, Like, or Agree With

Pursue the truth even if you don’t like what you find

Do you judge a religious claim, practice, movement, or person based on your personal opinions and preferences?

If the answer to that is yes, you’re wrong.

Your feelings are not the determiner of what is right, wrong, true, or false. Truth is independent of your feelings (except, of course, as a specific truth claim may relate specifically to one’s feelings).

Therefore, just because you’re upset about a particular religious belief, practice, or claim has no bearing whatsoever on whether that belief, practice, or claim is valid or invalid.

As atheist Ricky Gervais points out:

“Just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you’re right.”

That means, as just one example, that if monotheism is correct (and I believe it is) and therefore there is indeed one God who presides over the universe…

God is under no obligation to agree with you or do things your way.

God is either real or God is not real. Your feelings, opinions, and preferences have no impact whatsoever on that reality.
