Does it Make You Feel Good to Mock and Belittle People of Faith?

This one’s for the atheists, agnostics, secularists, and other critics of people of faith. It’s especially for my fellow Medium authors who seem to compete with one another to see who can write the most blistering attacks on faith and anyone who subscribes to faith.

Here’s my question…

Does it make you feel good to put other people down?

If you answer “yes,” then congratulations. You’re a bully.

There is no sound ethical justification for bullying. Of course, this won’t stop some from trying. I expect this article will be ignored by most and answered by a few. Those few will likely defend their antagonism, mean-spiritedness, mockery, and hostility with something along the lines of…

“Well, they started it!”

Just like you would expect to hear in elementary or middle school.

Let me make a few things clear…

  • There are some abusive bullies within various faith communities, and they need to be held accountable.
