If you’re looking for a pet that’s relatively low-fuss and doesn’t need much attention, then a bearded dragon might be the perfect pet for you. They’re friendly and sociable, and can even recognize their owners and become comfortable with them. They make excellent family pets.
That’s why bearded dragons are the most popular reptile pet.
Bearded dragons, also known as “beardies”, are reptiles native to Australia. They come in a variety of colors and sizes, with the most common being the brown or tan “normal” bearded dragon. However, there are also more exotic morphs available such as the solid white morph.
Bearded dragons have an interesting yet adorable appearance, with their pointy heads, big eyes, and spiny beards.
They’re relatively low-maintenance, with the only real requirements being food, water, and a safe and climate-controlled habitat with proper lighting.
As for food, beardies love eating live bugs and can benefit also from some vegetables in their diet. We feed ours live crickets plus a recommended veggie mix —all purchased from the local pet store.
