Listen more. Talk less.

This open letter is for all elected officials in the United States — those serving at every level in government (local, state, or national). Of course, in writing this open letter, I’m under no illusions about how important it will be to any actual elected official in the United States.

I’m not a celebrity or a rich donor, nor am I some big social media influencer. I’m just a citizen. I’m a simple, average, everyday, middle-class American family man. That is all.

But in case any elected leader may read this, allow me to share a simple appeal from my heart.

Listen more. Talk less.

I value your work in public office and appreciate the sacrifices you make, but we need men and women in elected office who see themselves first and foremost as public servants — not career politicians.

True public service starts with caring about those you serve and then listening to them. That’s why we need leaders, representatives, and public servants who will LISTEN.

We need elected officials who will listen to everyone, regardless of race, color, class, gender, sexual orientation, occupation, income, religious belief, political persuasion, political donations, or any other such consideration.
