A Call for Fairness in Judging Christians

Here on Medium, there are a lot of people who hate Christians and anything that Christians have anything to do with.

There are others who may not quite be in the “hate” category but they could be described as angry, resentful, or cynical with respect to Christians.

Allow me please a few moments of your time to offer this…

If you have been intentionally hated, exploited, abused, traumatized, maligned, mistreated, or otherwise hurt by someone who claims (or who claimed) to be a Christian…

Then, for what it’s worth (and it may not be worth much)…

On behalf of the Christian community with which I identify…

I am sorry.

I wish all those who claim to follow Jesus acted more like Jesus. And I have said so publicly…

I will continue to say so, even as I acknowledge that I myself am far from perfect. I have my own struggles and shortcomings.

How sad it is when people dismiss the possibility of having a relationship with the God who made them and loves them because of not being able to see past the hurts caused by mortal human beings. Brian is right. Don't let the actions of other men or…

I truly appreciate your perspective. And I agree, the broad brush is rarely effective or fair.
But of the 273 million christians in America, how many of them are cool with you apologizing on their behalf?
How many of them are policing their own…

I no longer refer to myself as a Christian, because that word has too many negative connotations. Instead, I say that I follow Jesus of Nazareth.
