4 Misunderstandings About Love

Love is the glue of relationships. It is also the key to a healthy life and a healthy society. The more love we have in our hearts and in our world, the better off we all will be.

I’m not just talking about romantic relationships either.

I’m talking about love in general.

Whether it’s the love of a parent, the love of a spouse, the love of a friend, or the love of a neighbor, love is foundational to a meaningful life as well as to thriving families and communities.

I believe we should all love and care about (and for) one another.

We should be kind to one another. We should give each other the benefit of the doubt. We should be polite, respectful, and sensitive to each other. And we should be forgiving of one another.

As Thomas Aquinas once said…

To love is to will the good of the other.

That indeed should characterize how we feel and choose to think about one another.
