12 Wisdom Nuggets on Leadership
Number Three — If you want to lead more, you better read more
I love wisdom sayings. I love reading quotes from ancient sages, successful leaders, and celebrated thinkers. And I absolutely adore the biblical Book of Proverbs.
The truth is, I’m addicted to self-improvement and personal development. Over the last five years, I’ve read close to 500 books! (Admittedly, many of them were fiction. I gotta give my brain a break now and then).
I love to learn.
And I love to share.
With this article, I want to share some random musings— nuggets of wisdom — on the subject of leadership.
These “proverbs” are not divinely inspired. And they aren’t quotes taken from other people, but they are based on wisdom I’ve picked up from years of study on the subjects of leadership and communication.
I offer them respectfully for your consideration:
- To become worthy of leadership, you must care more about people than positions.
- An authentic and effective leader is always an authentic and effective listener.
- If you want to lead more, you better read more.
- The foundation of authentic leadership is assuming responsibility.
- Good leaders focus on finding solutions, not assigning blame.
- Influence depends on managing the attention and focus of others.
- To lead with integrity requires that you walk with integrity.
- To be a leader of people makes you an object of criticism.
- Effective leadership relies on communication and trust.
- To be a truly loving leader, you must care more about the welfare of those you lead than the opinions of those you lead.
- Great leaders are great feeders.
- Legendary leaders are great lifters.
